You’re at Toronto Police Service HQ, where Mark Saunders led law enforcement for 5 years and is now running to be your Mayor. Under Saunders, the police budget ballooned to a billion dollars, a serial killer operated with impunity in the Village, and encampment residents and unhoused people were terrorized and assaulted. 

This is not our Toronto. We know that the safest communities are those with the most resources, not the most cops.

At least one candidate believes strongly that our City budget should focus on meeting the basic needs of Torontonians rather than being transferred out of the City in police salaries. 75% of the incredibly well-paid Service (66% of the people who wear this uniform are on the Sunshine List) live outside our City, and commute in to harass, intimidate, and brutalize the people who make our City work.

Let’s take $116 million from the police budget to cover social services.
